Occitania, a timeless region in the south of France

Between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, between the Pyrenean peaks and the wild plateaux of the Massif Central, Occitania unfolds a land of rare richness. Twelve departments, an ancient language, and landscapes that shift with every hill.

Here, nature is not a backdrop, it is the beating heart of a region that has endured through centuries without ever losing its soul. A land of contrasts and fulfilment, where every path leads to discovery and every détour reveals a living heritage.

Exceptional lands

From the Causses to the Pyrenees, the horizon knows no bounds. A vast, wild and unspoilt territory.

History & heritage

Cathars, Templars, medieval cities… every stone tells a story spanning a thousand years.

Preserved nature

Between causses and gorges, its biodiversity has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.

Sunshine & pure air

300 days of sunshine a year in the south, alongside the mists of the high plateaux and the crystalline clarity of altitude.

Lavours & terroirs

Roquefort, Aubrac lamb, honey, Languedoc wines: a cuisine rooted in its land, generous and sincere.

True wealth: its heritage

Artisans, shepherds, master tailors, glove-makers… exceptional craftsmanship still passed down by hand.

De Montpellier ou Clermont-Ferrand, prenez l'autoroute A75 et laissez le bruit derrière vous!

At a certain point, on the road climbing towards the Causses, the landscape shifts . Vineyards give way to broom, the sky opens wider, the air changes texture. You find yourself slowing down, almost without realising. Lozère is not conquered, it is gently embraced.

"One does not come to Lozère by chance. One comes in search of something forgotten,
lost, or taken away by the cities."

Who travels two hours to reach our estate ? Couples, families in search of space and authenticity. Travellers worn down by urban life. Hikers, lovers of raw nature, enthusiasts of terroir…

All seeking the same thing: a hidden, timeless place where life slows, where the sky stretches endlessly, and where encounters leave lasting impressions. As the altitude rises, worries fall away. The air grows purer. Time stands still.

In Lozère, you breathe again!

Here, we do more than receive you, we welcome you. Department 48 , the least populated in France and perhaps one of the richest… Rich in silence, in open horizons, in pure air, in its granite and basalt villages clinging to the slopes of the causses. Here, human density is low, but the density of life is complete.

C'est It is a place outside time . The Causses of Méjean, Noir and Sauveterre stretch endlessly like mineral seas. The rivers, the Tarn, the Jonte, the Lot, have carved majestic gorges studied by geologists from around the world. And in the villages, the stone still speaks of the people who have shaped these landscapes for millennia.

The air of Lozère is a promise . Pure, brisk, filled with the scents of broom and wild thyme. You breathe it differently, more deeply, as though your lungs finally regain their full capacity. It is not a metaphor, it is a physical, immediate experience felt by every visitor upon arrival.

Human connections here are marked by rare sincerity. Hospitality is not a service, but a value. The shepherd raising a hand as you pass, the baker who knows your name by the second day, the neighbour who recounts the story of the village washhouse with the pride of a guardian of memory.

The Gorges du Tarn

Carved over 53 kilometres between the Causse Méjean and the Causse de Sauveterre, the Gorges du Tarn are among Europe’s great canyons. Limestone cliffs plunge dramatically into turquoise waters. They can be explored by canoe, on foot, or by car along roads that defy imagination.

An unforgettable geological and human spectacle, where perched villages seem to have grown from the rock itself.

Aubrac, a world apart

A volcanic plateau at 1,000 metres above sea level where Aubrac cattle graze in legendary mists. A land of transhumance and deep-rooted hospitality, it inspires poets and soothes weary souls.

In winter, its snow cover transforms it into a desert of absolute peace. In summer, the “draille”, the path of herds ascending to summer pastures, becomes one of the most moving rituals of the Massif Central.

The Gorges de la Jonte

Less well known than the Tarn, the Jonte Gorges are no less striking. Here, griffon vultures reign, dozens glide above the cliffs, successfully reintroduced since the 1980s.

Watching their flight above the precipices from the Vertige or Capluc viewpoints is an experience that redefines freedom.

La Canourgue, your little Venetian village of Lozère

A village to pass through, a village to experience . Nestled in the Urugne valley, at the heart of the Causse de Sauveterre, this medieval town owes its nickname to the water that runs through it. Canals from the Brèzes stream flow between stone houses, beneath shaded arches, in a constant murmur.

The history of La Canourgue dates back to Antiquity. Successively a Roman vicus, a medieval priory town, and a royal city under the Capetians , it has crossed the centuries while preserving its character and human scale . Its cobbled streets, timber-framed houses, towers and market halls bear witness to a rich past carefully preserved by its inhabitants.

Today, La Canourgue is an ideal gateway to the landscapes of the Causse de Sauveterre and the Gorges du Tarn.Yet it is more than a starting point, it is a place to linger. On Friday mornings in the market square, local producers set up their stalls, and conversations last as long as it takes for coffee to cool.

The Grands Causses Regional Natural Park surrounds it entirely . Walking trails begin directly from the village, leading to dolmens, lavognes and vast open spaces that make this land a sanctuary for those seeking fresh air . Each season has its own face : the wild summers of the causses, the golden autumn of chestnut trees, the silent winters beneath the stars.

Yet the true quality of this experience lies above all in the people , who make it possible. Teachers, practitioners, therapists… each plays an essential role in creating an environment that is balanced, fluid and deeply restorative.

Guardians of French craftsmanship

Beyond its natural landscapes, Lozère and its surroundings are a living conservatory of exceptional trades and traditions passed down with passion. Here, craftsmanship is not performance but a way of being, rooted in history and looking towards the future.

Atelier Tuffery

Since 1892, four generations of tailors in Florac have preserved the true French jean, born from the indigo-dyed fabrics of Nîmes. Slow fashion, Made in France, eco-responsibility, short supply chains, ancestral expertise: Tuffery embodies sustainable fashion, where each piece tells a story.

Maison Fabre

Based in Millau since 1924, Maison Fabre is one of the last great French glove-making houses, preserving a precise, meticulous craft inherited from master glove-makers of the past. Their lambskin gloves from Occitanie dress the hands of elegant clients worldwide.

La Forge de Laguiole

Following a tradition dating back to 1828, the Laguiole knife is far more than a tool, it is a cultural icon of Aubrac. Hand-forged using centuries-old techniques, each piece bears the signature bee. The forge preserves a craft of excellence rooted in the pastoral traditions of the plateau.
