Domaine de la Vialette welcomes you in a natural and unspoilt setting. Between open meadows and historic stone buildings, every corner of the Domaine has been thoughtfully designed to host moments of sharing and joy.
Welcoming, but differently. For over 15 years, Domaine de La Vialette has been committed to an environmentally responsible approach . Preserving resources, rethinking practices, adapting equipment: here, every technical choice is also a choice of consistency . These commitments have earned us the Ecogîte label, in recognition of a holistic approach where comfort and sustainability go hand in hand.
L’Orangerie de Romy, designed to meet , the RE2020 environmental standards, follows the same philosophy : insulated roofing, double glazing, heat pumps paired with solar panels, and automatic sanitary systems to better manage energy consumption.
Our long-term goal is clear: to move towards energy self-sufficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and environmental responsibility.

La Vialette: ancienne ferme caussenarde du XIVe siècle.
On the Causse de Sauveterre, ce vaste plateau calcaire où le vent court sur les pelouses sèches et les murets de pierre, la Vialette veille depuis près de sept siècles. Son nom dit déjà tout : la contraction de via et villa, « la petite maison au bord du chemin ».
Édifiée dès le XIVe siècle, it was originally a fortified Causse farmhouse, enclosed and reached through a single gate to guard against the brigands who once roamed these lands of the Gévaudan, the old name for the Lozère. Roofed with lauzes, those heavy stone slabs stacked into a roof, and raised in dry stone without a trace of mortar, it embodies the architecture typical of these high plateaus, built to withstand harsh winters and scorching summers alike.
Here, life followed the rhythm of the land and the herds. Sheep were raised whose milk went down to be aged in the famous Roquefort caves, and people practised the Causse agropastoralism that shaped this whole landscape, the very one that today earns the Causses and Cévennes their inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list. A land at once harsh and generous, patiently shaped by those who lived on it. It was on these foundations, and in this spirit, that everything would be built.
Sept siècles plus tard, le passé se laisse encore toucher. En parcourant le Domaine, on découvre le portail de pierre d'origine, le puits de la maison caussenarde, les murs montés de leurs pierres d'époque, et la charpente de l'ancienne grange, façonnée en coque de bateau renversée, un savoir-faire de charpentier devenu rare. Plus tard, au XVIIIe siècle, on y ajoute un four à pain, toujours en état de marche : nous le rallumons sur demande, le temps d'un moment épicurien autour du pain et des viennoiseries du village. Car ici, le pain n'a jamais cessé d'être ce qu'il est vraiment, un symbole de partage.
